Bosworth Marina Photographic Competition June 2016 Results
Thank you to everyone who submitted entries for the latest photography competition. There were so many entries and so many beautiful photographs that it was a very difficult task indeed to choose winners. So after much sifting and deliberation and pondering, here are the results. (If the photograph wasn’t named, I have named them for identification purposes).
Marina and canal photograph category:
1st place: Paul Webb – Narrowboat reflections
2nd place: Tamzen Moore – Sunrise over marina
3rd place: Tom Hilton – Sunset over marina
Paul’s photo of the boats on a still day produced wonderful reflections and the sunburst through the clouds on Tamzen’s photo produced lovely silhouettes. There were many sunset photographs but Tom’s again caught the boat silhouettes very well.
The following lovely photos made it onto the short list – the dappled light on the bridge on Caroline’s photo was beautiful and I liked the brooding clouds in Elizabeth’s entry.
Commended: Caroline Brent – October sun on Bridge 56
Robin Ross – Sunset over marina
Fred Tuck – Quiet day on the Ashby Canal
Elizabeth Miles – Clouds over the canal
Michael Miles – Winter on the Ashby
Wildlife photograph category:
1st place: Mick Edwards – Lapwing
2nd place: Alastair Durham – Swan and cygnets on nest
3rd place: Robin Ross – Heron flying along the Ashby Canal
Again, there were a lot of very good shots of the wildlife on and around the marina. I particularly liked Mick’s photo of the lapwing because of the contrast between the colours foliage and the lapwing’s plumage – great to see these birds up close. Alastair’s swan and cygnets sitting on the nest in the sunshine was delightful. Robin’s photo of the heron was a good “right time, right place” shot. The following three photos were also on the shortlist.
Commended: Alastair Durham – Swan and cygnets swimming
Robin Ross – Hoverfly
Mick Edwards – Swans under the bridge
Well done to Paul and Mick who both win £25 vouchers for the marina shop. Thank you again to all who sent in photographs. All the entries can be seen in the respective galleries on Galleries page of the website.
